The company behind The Exchange building in Liverpool has won recognition in an international trade competition for its success in building links with China.
Foster Marlon Group was one of the winners of the 12th annual Greater China Awards, organised by the Department for international Trade (DIT) North West. The company had previously raised funds from Hong Kong investors and have now launched their first private equity fund which aims to raise £50m to invest in new developments in the North West.
Foster Marlon, which specialises in purpose-built student and rental accommodation, came in third in the Greater China Rising Star award for bilateral trade between the UK and China. Its properties include the Produce Exchange building, the grade II listed property overlooking Liverpool’s historic waterfront, a UNESCO world heritage site.
Matt Lavin of Benoit Properties, which has sold properties in The Exchange Building to overseas investors, said: “Foster Marlon are specialists in property development with an in-depth knowledge of the North West market. They have achieved great success in their projects at home and in building links with investors overseas. Their new private equity fund will allow investors to take advantage of the huge opportunities within the North West, which is predicted to be one of the fastest growing of any UK location in the coming years in terms of both capital and rental values.”
