Les Trois Vallées is a ski region in the Tarentaise Valley of the French Alps, and one of the largest connected ski areas in the world. It is home to seven unique resorts, which in total comprise 600km of ski slopes, more than 180 green-blue ski runs and over 140 red-black ski runs.

The region is characterised by snowy landscapes, lively resorts, and charming alpine villages where time stands still. As you’re taking to the skies in high-tech ski lifts, or racing down the region’s famous white slopes, you can take in far-reaching views of Mont Blanc and other legendary peaks.

We look at some of the most spectacular viewpoints in the Les 3 Vallées region of the French Alps.

Le Signal

The Le Signal chairlift takes you 2,250 metres into the sky and offers unmatched views of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in the Alps and the whole of Western Europe.

Jump on at the Courchevel-Moriond snowfront and ride the chairlift straight to the top for an incredible experience.

La Saulire

The Les Marmottes lift takes you up even higher—to the top of the La Saulire mountain. At an immense 2,740 metres, this is the highest point in Courchevel Valley and offers panoramic views of the vast Massif de la Vanoise mountain range.

Le Mont Vallon

The Mont Vallon summit is another legendary peak in Les 3 Vallées. Ride the Mont Vallon gondola lift for views across the beautiful Méribel Valley and the Gébroulaz glacier.

The Encombres Valley

This viewpoint requires a little more activity. Take the Verdet and Biolley blue runs into Saint-Martin-de-Belleville village for views across the breathtaking Encombres Valley. In the summer, marvel at mountainous meadows, charming alpine huts and grazing cattle; in the winter, witness landscapes covered with deep, fresh snow.

La Pointe de la Masse

The newly constructed gondola lift to La Pointe de la Masse is one of the fastest in France, and will fly you to the top in just eight minutes. From this magnificent viewpoint you can take in 360° views of natural landscapes and spy the striking modernist architecture of Les Menuires resort.

La Cime Caron

Val Thorens is a resort situated in the highest part of Les 3 Vallées ski area. Here you’ll find some of the most enthusiastic skiers, who come together to create a lively sporting atmosphere. The resort’s famous summit, Cime Caron, is a must-visit if you’re in the area, and good for you if you manage to reach the top!

Le Col de la Loz

For a slightly different experience, hike or bike to Le Col de la Loze—a gorgeous spot between Courchevel and Méribel which offers scenic views of both villages. From this viewpoint, you can also see the mountain pass of Col de la Loze (which was the summit finish and highest point in the 2020 Tour de France).

Plan du Bouchet

We’ll round it off with our highest viewpoint: Plan du Bouchet. At 3,230 metres, this magnificent spot near Orelle will make you feel like you’re on the top of the world—and don’t forget to look out for the Le Bouchet glacier.
